Meet The Revenue Marketing Doc

Hi, I’m Dr. Mary Rombaut —aka the Revenue Marketing Doc— but everyone just calls me Mary.

I didn’t start my career in marketing. I started in data, research, and strategic planning, leading initiatives in higher education that required me to work across every part of an organization. From faculty and finance to admissions, marketing, and senior leadership, I had a front-row seat to how decisions in one area ripple across the entire system.

That experience shaped how I see business.

I learned quickly that growth isn’t about any one department. It’s about how everything works together.

But I also saw something frustrating. Even the best strategic plans often failed—not because the ideas were wrong, but because the systems to execute them didn’t exist. Teams were misaligned. Priorities competed. Data was unclear. And strong strategies quietly broke down in execution.

That realization stayed with me as I moved into the for-profit world, where I managed CRM, analytics, and IT inside a growing organization. There, I saw how powerful technology could be—and how quickly it could create friction when it didn’t align with how a business actually operated.

One failed CRM implementation in particular taught me a lesson I’ve never forgotten: even the best tools can fail without the right systems, the right partners, and the right level of organizational readiness.

From there, I moved into agency life, leading marketing analytics for national brands. The work was exciting, the teams were brilliant, and the resources were there. But the same problem kept showing up—organizations struggling to align marketing, sales, data, and technology into something that actually worked.

It wasn’t a talent problem. It was a system problem.

That belief was fully cemented when I went in-house at an executive search firm, where I was responsible for everything tied to revenue—marketing, operations, technology, analytics, and team leadership. We built the systems the company needed from the ground up and scaled the business significantly in the process. It wasn’t perfect or linear, but it worked because everything was connected.

That’s when it all clicked.

Marketing isn’t a function. It’s part of a system.

And when that system is aligned, growth becomes predictable.

Today, as the Founder and CEO of R-Squared Solutionsand Recommenda, I work with founders, CEOs, and marketing leaders to build those systems—aligning strategy, sales, operations, and technology into a cohesive revenue engine.

The Revenue Marketing System™ is the result of everything I’ve learned across strategy, research, operations, technology, and leadership. It’s not theory. It’s a practical framework designed to help organizations move from fragmented activity to scalable, measurable growth.

Because in my experience, most companies aren’t struggling because they lack effort or talent.

They’re struggling because the system isn’t built to support growth.

Fix the system, and everything else starts to work.

When I’m not scaling client and my own companies, you can find me hanging with my family: Jeff, Rory and Ryan (R-Squared), Sienna, and our little Notre Dame loving golden retriever, Irish; on the golf course chasing mulligans; or, watching my beloved Buffalo Bills try and win a Super Bowl.
